Pokémon's 30th: an all-foil Celebration set with a Base Set Charizard reprint

Pokémon hits 30 this year, and the TCG is marking it with the kind of set that only comes around once. The 30th-anniversary Celebration expansion is scheduled for 16 September as the franchise's first-ever global same-day launch — meaning Singapore collectors open packs at the same moment as everyone else, no import wait required.

The product itself is unusual in the best way. The roughly 150-card set is built around all-foil, six-card packs, so there's shine in every pull. It also introduces a new "Futuristic Rare" treatment — a bold, design-led look applied to icons like Mewtwo ex and Mew ex — alongside 30 unique Pikachu illustrations celebrating three decades of the mascot.

For vintage fans, the headline is the reprint line-up: 30 classic cards return, including the one everyone thinks of first — Base Set Charizard. Reprints don't replace the value of a genuine 1999 original, but they do put an affordable version of an icon in more binders, and that tends to reignite interest in the real vintage pieces too.
